[Saba Sports News] Chelsea have officially announced the signing of English forward Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. The 23-year-old striker has penned a deal at Stamford Bridge until 2033 and will join Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. Shortly after the confirmation, Morgan Rogers posted on social media: “Here I am. I’m absolutely delighted to join Chelsea, ready to get going!” By sealing his move to Chelsea, Rogers has cemented his status as one of the Premier League’s leading young attacking talents. During his spell with Aston Villa, he contributed directly to 40 goals across 85 Premier League appearances with goals and assists, helping the Midlands side secure a top-four finish and lift the Europa League trophy last season. Since making his senior England debut in November 2024, Rogers has become a regular for the Three Lions. He has earned 22 caps to date and represented England at this summer’s World Cup.
It is understood that Rogers’ transfer fee stands at £117 million with no add-ons. The deal sets a new record for the highest transfer fee for an English player, exceeding the £116 million agreement struck between Manchester City and Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson earlier this summer. Furthermore, Rogers is now Chelsea’s most expensive signing of all time, eclipsing the £107 million the club paid to acquire Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández in 2023.
