[Saba Sports News] Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers turned heated.
Pacers center Myles Turner and Knicks guard Donte DiVincenzo tangled up with 4:27 left in the third quarter at Madison Square Garden.
The two exchanged shoves as DiVincenzo tried to fight through a Turner screen, going face-to-face until referees and teammates intervened.
Both players received technical fouls for the altercation. Prior to the incident, the Knicks had outscored the Pacers 16-1 over five minutes, culminating in a DiVincenzo putback slam that gave New York an 86-64 lead.
DiVincenzo also had a verbal exchange with Indiana guard TJ McConnell earlier in the game, reflecting the high emotions at this critical juncture in the series. Historically, the team that wins Game 5 in a series tied 2-2 advances 82.8% of the time.
