[Saba Sports News] Bronny James is keeping his options open for the NBA Draft, but one scenario is off the table for starting his professional career.
In an interview with Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes, Bronny’s agent, Rich Paul, ruled out the possibility of the 19-year-old signing a two-way contract.
“Yes, that’s absolutely true,” Paul confirmed when asked about reports that Bronny has no interest in a two-way deal. “Teams know that. I’m not doing that.”
This stance is unsurprising, as Paul aims to secure Bronny a spot on an NBA roster next season. A two-way contract would involve time in both the G-League and the NBA, which could benefit his development. However, admitting openness to a two-way deal might weaken Bronny’s negotiating position.
Bronny has until May 29 to return to college, but all signs indicate he will pursue the NBA path, with interest from various teams.
The most likely outcome is Bronny joining the Lakers, despite efforts to downplay the significance of playing with his father. Bronny averaged just 4.8 points per game as a freshman at USC, raising concerns about his size and potential as an NBA contributor. However, the Lakers might draft Bronny to please LeBron.
