[Saba Sports News] According to foreign media reports, the FIA had initially planned to install rain tire wheel covers on racing cars, but after discussions, the plan was ultimately shelved. The Ferrari team conducted tests on the installation of wheel covers for the FIA, but the results were disappointing as the diffuser still sprayed a significant amount of water mist. Consequently, the FIA abandoned the idea of wheel covers but continues to evaluate other options to improve wet weather conditions, which has always been a priority for them. Instead of wheel covers, it might be more beneficial to focus on developing more efficient rain tire technology, such as enhancing drainage and grip performance, to reduce water splashing or implementing new defogging technology in driver helmets or racing cars to ensure better visibility.
