(sabasports report) The NBA Finals continued with the Boston Celtics winning at home. Jayson Tatum had 31 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists, and Jaylen Brown added 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead a big halftime lead. The Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals to win 4-1 overall, their 18th title in franchise history and once again leading the league.
Kristaps Porzingis scored on a basket by the Mavericks early in the fourth quarter, but the Celtics regained a 21-point lead. Luka Dončić hit a 3-pointer after a timeout, Derrick White immediately returned, and the teams alternated points later. Tatum and Brown combined to give the Celtics a 98-75 lead. Despite Doncic’s 3-pointer, Tatum scored four straight points to give the Celtics a 102-78 lead.
Although the Mavericks didn’t give up, Kyrie Irving hit a 3-pointer and Patrick Washington scored on a run, they pulled within 85-106 with 3:10 left in the fourth quarter. Jason Kidd came off the bench after Doncic’s turnover, and the Celtics won 106-88.
