[Saba Sports News] Super sports events like the Olympics always attract great attention. For those athletes who win medals, one success can bring both fame and fortune. Recently, the reward distribution plan for the Hong Kong China team at the Olympics was announced. Although the Hong Kong China team is not a gold medal powerhouse, it does not diminish their pursuit of championship dreams. In order to motivate these Olympic athletes, local chambers of commerce offer generous rewards for each Olympic Games. This year, they have increased the rewards by 20% based on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics reward system. In individual events, the champion’s reward will increase from $640,000 to $760,000, and the rewards for silver and bronze medals will increase to $380,000 and $190,000 respectively. It is reported that this is part of the three-year outstanding athlete reward program launched by the Hong Kong Sports Institute and the Hong Kong Jockey Club in 2023, aiming to provide generous cash rewards to athletes who perform well in major sports events. In the men’s singles badminton event, Hong Kong’s star player Lee Cheuk Yiu, Chinese Taipei’s star Chou Tien Chen, and Mexican player Luis Ramon Garrido are in the same group. The three players have similar abilities, and Lee Cheuk Yiu has a chance to advance to the knockout stage. If he unexpectedly wins a medal, he will receive a substantial reward.
