[Saba Sports News] Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc faced consequences after using profanity during the post-race press conference at last week’s F1 Mexico Grand Prix. This matter has seen new developments. During a meeting this week, the FIA determined that Leclerc’s language was inappropriate for television broadcasts and decided to fine him €10,000. Of this amount, €5,000 must be paid immediately; if he commits another offense within the next 12 months, he will have to pay the remaining fine. Leclerc expressed understanding of the penalty and promised to use civilized language in the future. The FIA believes that F1 drivers, as public figures, need to set a good example and explicitly states that drivers must use civilized language in public and live settings. In response, some fans believe that Leclerc’s behavior is fundamentally different from that of Red Bull driver Max Verstappen because Leclerc apologized on live camera after realizing his mistake, while Verstappen did not. Previously, Verstappen was fined by the FIA for using profanity during a media conference at the F1 Singapore Grand Prix and was required to perform a day of community service.
