[Saba Sports News] India cricketer Ravichandran heaped massive praises on Rinku Singh after the southpaw played yet another marvellous innings in the third T20I of the recently-concluded series against Afghanistan.
Having made his T20I debut just five months ago, Rinku has already made himself a mainstay in the Indian team. With numerous match-winning knocks under his belt, the 26-year-old has cemented his place as the finisher in the side.
In 11 T20I innings, Rinku has scored 356 runs at average of 89 and a strike-rate of 176.23.
In his latest heroics, Rinku smashed 69 runs off 39 deliveries versus Afghanistan, forming a 190-run stand with Rohit Sharma versus Afghanistan. As he continues to impress with his scintillating show, Ashwin called him a left-handed MS Dhoni, comparing the similarity in composures of the two players.
“He is somebody I’d call a left-handed Dhoni. I can’t compare him to Dhoni just yet because Dhoni is too big. But, I am talking about the composure that he brings,” Ashwin said as quoted on his YouTube channel.
“He has been consistently scoring buckets of runs for UP and broke his way into the Indian team. He was on the KKR bench for many years,” he added.
Ashwin also shared an episode on Rinku’s early days with Kolkata Knight Riders.
“People used to tell me that, when he was at KKR, even though he couldn’t get the chance to bat at practice, he collected all the balls that batters hit in throwdowns and gave them back to the bowler.
“Since then, he has been with the franchise for so long, put in the hard work for UP and showed that he’s always available to get to the Indian team out of a tricky situation or finish an innings. The composure doesn’t change whether the team is batting first or chasing. His composure towards the back end of the innings is a bonus,” Ashwin mentioned.
