[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, two referees have been indefinitely suspended due to the offside call on Alexander Isak’s national team goal. In a recent UEFA Nations League match, Isak could have extended Sweden’s lead to 4-0, but his goal was ruled offside by VAR. However, this decision was later confirmed to be incorrect, leading to widespread criticism. Isak expressed his disappointment about the offside ruling after the match, saying, “How could this happen? This is one of the worst VAR mistakes I’ve seen.” Reports state that the video assistant referees Pavel Maletz and Daniel Stefanski have been banned from officiating top-tier matches in Poland indefinitely due to this incident. Although they have not yet been demoted to officiate lower leagues, this decision marks a significant setback in their refereeing careers. Meanwhile, UEFA also issued a statement confirming that the VAR officials did make an error in this ruling and indicated that further penalties may be taken in the future.
