[Saba Sports News] Kyrie Irving is still being trolled as the “flat-earth guy” by rival fans.
During the Dallas Mavericks’ road game against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, Irving faced some playful heckling from the crowd. While he was shooting free throws in the first half, fans at State Farm Arena broke into a chant of “The earth is round!” as reported by John Hollinger of *The Athletic*.
The chant didn’t rattle Irving, who calmly sank both free throws and went on to score a game-high 32 points in Dallas’ 128-118 win over Atlanta. While the Hawks fans didn’t disrupt his performance, they certainly earned points for creativity.
Nearly eight years after Irving’s infamous (and possibly tongue-in-cheek) claim that the earth is flat, the label still sticks. Opposing fanbases have only gotten more inventive with their science-themed digs at the former No. 1 overall pick.
