[Saba Sports News] Several suspensions and fines have been issued following Sunday night’s heated clash between the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets.
The NBA announced Tuesday that Rockets forward Amen Thompson has been suspended for two games without pay for his role in the on-court altercation. Miami guard Terry Rozier has received a one-game suspension without pay.
Additionally, Houston’s Jalen Green was fined $35,000, while Miami’s Tyler Herro was fined $25,000. Rockets head coach Ime Udoka was hit with a $50,000 fine for “verbal abuse” of a referee and failing to leave the court promptly after being ejected.
The scuffle occurred late in the fourth quarter of Miami’s 104-100 victory over Houston. Thompson and Herro got tangled up before an inbounds play, resulting in Thompson throwing Herro to the ground. Rozier then rushed in and tackled Thompson, with Green also joining the fray.
The incident led to ejections for Thompson, Herro, Rozier, Green, Udoka, and Rockets assistant coach Ben Sullivan.
Herro, who led the Heat with 27 points and nine assists, also had sharp words for Thompson in a postgame interview.
Thompson will miss upcoming games against Dallas and Boston on Wednesday and Friday, while Rozier will serve his suspension Wednesday against New Orleans. As for the fined Rockets players, they’ve already received an offer from a former Houston champion to cover their penalties.
