[Saba Sports News] Josh Hart took flopping to a whole new level during Sunday’s game against the Boston Celtics.
The New York Knicks guard pulled off one of the most exaggerated flops of the season in the third quarter. While running up the floor in transition after a defensive rebound, Hart was barely touched around the waist by Celtics guard Jrue Holiday. Instead of brushing it off, Hart threw his arms in the air and dramatically collapsed to the floor, hoping to sell a foul.
Unfortunately for him, veteran referee Tony Brothers was right there and wasn’t buying it. The play continued, leaving Hart looking ridiculous in the process.
Social media had a field day roasting Hart for his over-the-top acting job, with fans flooding X with jokes and memes.
Despite the embarrassing moment, Hart had an impressive night in his return from a two-game absence due to a knee injury, putting up 20 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. However, his efforts weren’t enough, as the Knicks fell to the Celtics 118-105.
The NBA has been less aggressive in enforcing flopping fines lately—$2,000 per violation—but Hart’s Oscar-worthy performance might have been worthy of one.
