[Saba Sports News] The Phoenix Suns are teetering on the edge of the play-in tournament, and some around the league aren’t convinced they’ll turn things around.
ESPN’s Tim Bontemps spoke to league executives who believe the Suns will miss the playoffs in the highly competitive Western Conference, citing their lack of chemistry and negative energy throughout the season.
“Phoenix, which is wild to say,” a Western Conference executive told Bontemps. “They look like they can’t stand being around each other.”
Another West executive added, “It feels like the wheels have fallen off.”
The Suns dropped to 27-30 after a disappointing 127-109 loss to the struggling Toronto Raptors (18-39) on Sunday—marking their eighth defeat in the last 10 games.
This slump is particularly frustrating given the high expectations placed on Phoenix’s star-studded trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. However, injuries have disrupted their rhythm, and they’ve struggled to develop chemistry.
Adding to the uncertainty, rumors are swirling about Durant’s potential exit this summer.
Despite the turmoil, the Suns still have a chance to make a late-season push. They’ll look to bounce back when they face the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.
