[Saba Sports News] Hendra Setiawan, a former men’s doubles prodigy who announced his retirement earlier this year, plans to appear at the 2025 All England Badminton Championships to personally guide the pairing of Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani as they face the Chinese duo of Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang. Yesterday, the Indonesian Badminton Association updated its official social media, releasing a video of Hendra providing tips to Gutama and Isfahani on the All England training grounds, as he closely observed the training matches between the two Indonesian men’s doubles pairs. In a post-training interview, Hendra publicly shared his reasons for taking on the role of Indonesia’s men’s doubles coach. One reason is that he understands the difficulties professional players face and the challenges they encounter. Hendra expressed that Gutama and Isfahani displayed an impressive fighting spirit during their preparation for European events, which deeply moved him. After assuming his new coaching role, Hendra revealed that he did not set specific goals, particularly for the 2025 All England Championships, as it will be Gutama and Isfahani’s first time competing in the event; he only hopes they can perform at their best.
