[Saba Sports News] For the second night in a row, the Lakers found themselves in a down-to-the-wire finish. But unlike Wednesday’s buzzer-beating win in Indiana, this time luck wasn’t on their side.
The Lakers blew an 18-point fourth-quarter lead and lost 119-117 to the Bulls on Thursday night, capped off by a wild halfcourt buzzer-beater from Josh Giddey. After Chicago stormed back with an 18-6 run, the Lakers were still up 115-110 with 12 seconds left—and somehow still lost.
First, Patrick Williams nailed a clutch three. Then LeBron James threw away the inbound, handing it to Giddey, who hit Coby White for another three to give the Bulls a shocking 116-115 lead.
Austin Reaves briefly restored order with a go-ahead layup—until Giddey’s Hail Mary from midcourt dropped as the buzzer sounded.
Giddey finished with a massive 25-point, 14-rebound, 11-assist triple-double. And this wasn’t even his first act—just days earlier, he torched the Lakers again in L.A., posting 15-10-17 and a career-high eight steals in a 146-115 Bulls blowout.
The Lakers, who were on the second night of a back-to-back, looked gassed down the stretch—and Giddey made sure they paid for it.
