[Saba Sports News] As April begins, the Badminton World Federation has announced several major news items, among which the upgrade of the Hylo Open to a Super 500 event has attracted attention. This is because the Canadian Open previously announced that the event level would be adjusted from Super 500 to Super 300 for the remaining hosting period. The BWF believes that the Hylo Open can be a suitable “substitute” for a Super 500 level event. For players, Super 500 events offer more points, which is crucial for their rise in the world rankings. A higher world ranking not only allows athletes to qualify for more high-level events but also increases their seeding in major events such as the Olympics and World Championships, thus obtaining a more favorable draw in the competition. Moreover, with the increase in event level, the commercial value of the event will also increase, bringing more economic benefits to the event organizers and injecting new vitality into the commercial development of badminton.
