[Saba Sports News] Tyrese Haliburton’s father, John Haliburton, has issued a public apology for his involvement in a postgame confrontation with Giannis Antetokounmpo following the Indiana Pacers’ 119-118 overtime victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.
After the Pacers clinched the series at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, video showed John Haliburton stepping onto the court and taunting Antetokounmpo, an incident the Bucks star later called “disrespectful.” In response, John posted a statement on X apologizing for his actions.
“I sincerely apologize to Giannis, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Pacers organization for my actions following tonight’s game,” he wrote. “This was not a good reflection on our sport or my son, and I will not make that mistake again.”
Tyrese Haliburton also acknowledged his father’s misstep, stating that he intended to personally reach out to Antetokounmpo to apologize on behalf of his family.
The confrontation added to the tension of an already heated series, which ended with the Bucks being eliminated in five games. Antetokounmpo was also involved in a separate scuffle with Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin postgame.
What should have been a celebratory moment for Indiana was marred by the incident, though John Haliburton’s apology suggests he recognizes the seriousness of the situation.
