[Saba Sports News] The Indiana Pacers got an early taste of Oklahoma weather drama ahead of the NBA Finals.
According to KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City, the Pacers’ team flight was forced to divert to Tulsa on Tuesday due to tornado conditions near their destination. The team had departed from Indianapolis but could not initially land in Oklahoma City because of the severe weather.
Fortunately, the Pacers were eventually able to touch down at Will Rogers World Airport just before 7 p.m. CST, after a significant delay. Public flight data confirmed the reroute and extended travel time.
Much of Oklahoma was under a tornado watch Tuesday, which temporarily halted air traffic in and out of Oklahoma City. The timing added an unexpected twist for the Pacers, who are set to face the Thunder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday, followed by Game 2 on Sunday—both in OKC.
Tornado threats are familiar territory for Oklahomans, and past Thunder stars have even stepped up to support local communities affected by major storms.
