[Saba Sports News] The New York Knicks are still in the market for a new head coach, and Jason Kidd is reportedly very interested in the job.
Appearing on The Zach Gelb Show Tuesday, reporter Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson said the Knicks are a “dream job” for Kidd. However, Robinson noted that Kidd would likely have to force his way out of Dallas—possibly via a trade—to make it happen.
Kidd, 52, has strong ties to both franchises. He played for the Knicks and Mavericks during his career and has already coached the Nets and Bucks.
He has been the Mavericks’ head coach since 2021, leading them to two playoff appearances and a trip to the 2024 NBA Finals before missing the postseason in 2025 following the Luka Doncic trade.
New York reportedly attempted to interview Kidd but were denied permission. The Knicks are currently searching for a replacement for Tom Thibodeau, who coached the team for the past five seasons.
