[Saba Sports News] A former player of the Memphis Grizzlies expressed concern over Ja Morant’s recent actions, particularly his celebration style reminiscent of Gilbert Arenas. After securing a game-winning dunk in overtime against New Orleans, Morant was seen making finger-gun gestures and imitating holding an RPG on his shoulder.
This behavior did not sit well with Chandler Parsons, a retired forward who played for the Grizzlies from 2016 to 2019. During an appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” Parsons criticized Morant’s actions, urging him to focus on basketball and his career rather than engaging in such behaviors. He emphasized the importance of learning from past incidents and avoiding actions that detract from his professional image.
Parsons’ comments come in the context of Morant’s recent return from his second NBA suspension for displaying a weapon on social media. Since his return, the Grizzlies have had a 4-0 winning streak, with Morant averaging 28.8 points and 8.5 assists per game.
However, Morant’s gesture, even if brief, raises questions about his maturity and understanding of the gravity of his actions, particularly in light of a concerning report about his reaction to his second suspension.
