[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk are preparing to sue Mykhaylo Mudryk and the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF). Reports state that Chelsea has completed an internal investigation and concluded that Mudryk likely used a banned substance during a national team training camp. Chelsea plans to take legal action against Mudryk himself, seeking compensation for the record €70 million transfer fee paid, and will also sue the UAF for potentially providing banned drugs without proper oversight. Mudryk’s former club, Shakhtar Donetsk, is also closely monitoring the situation and is exploring legal action against the UAF. Shakhtar claims that due to Mudryk’s suspension, the club missed out on bonuses potentially worth up to €30 million. According to the agreement between the clubs, Shakhtar was entitled to additional payments based on Mudryk’s appearances and achievements with Chelsea. Due to his absence, Shakhtar missed out on potential transfer bonuses linked to Chelsea winning the UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup. Since December 2024, Mudryk has been suspended by Chelsea after testing positive for the banned substance Meldonium. Mudryk has since hired a specialized legal team, which has handled similar doping cases for players like Paul Pogba and Darijo Srna, in an attempt to reduce or overturn the ban.
