[Saba Sports News] During Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League match against Atalanta, manager Luis Enrique once again chose to sit in the stands rather than on the substitutes’ bench. The coach, who was wearing a sling after breaking his collarbone in a cycling accident, wore large headphones and analyzed the game with a computer from the stands as PSG secured a comfortable victory. Regarding this, Enrique stated he might continue to direct matches from the stands in the future, as observing the game from a high vantage point allows him to gather more useful information. However, Enrique also mentioned he would not do this during away matches due to security concerns and the potentially hostile environment affecting his personal safety. In fact, this practice is prohibited in Spain. The Spanish Football Federation’s rules explicitly state that, barring special circumstances, the head coach must direct the match from the technical area. Under UEFA rules, while not explicitly forbidden, they detail who should be in the technical area and emphasize they must be separated from spectators. Paris Saint-Germain’s next Champions League match is away against Barcelona on October 1st.
