[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Real Madrid’s appeal against Dean Huijsen’s red card has been dismissed again. Previously, the Competition Committee rejected Real Madrid’s initial appeal against the red card, which the club subsequently appealed further. Now, the Appeals Committee has once again dismissed Real Madrid’s appeal, meaning Huijsen will definitely miss the match against Espanyol. After studying the appeal submitted by Real Madrid, the Appeals Committee stated: “This Committee does not find any infringement of the principles of clarity, proportionality, or legal certainty invoked by Real Madrid Club. The factual situation claimed by the club cannot be considered established because, as stated, the practice of video evidence allows for multiple interpretations of the play, including the one made by the referee in the match report. Therefore, the referee’s decision cannot be deemed an error meeting the standard required to establish a clear and material mistake.” The report added: “For the same reasons, challenging the application of Article 118.3 of the Disciplinary Code (which establishes the non-appealable nature of technical refereeing decisions) is also unfounded. This is far from a case of misapplication of regulations; it falls under a reasonable technical judgment and is therefore not subject to review through this disciplinary procedure. The Appeals Committee does not find any infringement of the principles invoked by Real Madrid Club.”
