[Saba Sports News] In the third round of Group B of the UEFA World Cup qualifiers, Sweden suffered a 0-2 defeat at home to Switzerland, earning only one point in three rounds and sitting at the bottom of the group, putting their qualification hopes in jeopardy. During the match, Sweden’s head coach, Jon Dahl Tomasson, was met with strong boos from home fans, with some even displaying banners reading “Tomasson Out” and “Dane, Go Home.” After the game, Tomasson commented, “Football is a sport filled with intense emotions. When results are poor, as they are for us now, these emotions erupt. That’s part of football – a black-and-white story. This is an issue our entire team, including myself, must face.” Tomasson stated that he still believes he is the right person to lead Sweden forward: “We’ve taken a heavy blow, but it’s not fatal. We believe in what we’re doing and are eager to make Sweden proud. The competition for the top spot in the group has changed. I’ve said from the start that any team can take points from others, as we saw in the match between Kosovo and Slovenia. If we can defeat Kosovo, we still have a chance to finish second in the group. Today, we are deeply disappointed. We wanted to win, especially in front of a packed home crowd.”
