[Saba Sports News] According to Bundesliga media reports, Bayer Leverkusen is planning to build a new youth training centre in the Monheim area, but the plan is expected to be vetoed at the city council meeting on the 5th of this month. Leverkusen Sporting Director Simon Rolfes stated in a media interview that they have no ‘Plan B’ and that this youth training centre is a crucial guarantee for their Bundesliga title ambitions for years to come. Leverkusen’s plan is to build a new youth academy in Monheim covering 22 hectares with 12.5 pitches. However, the newly formed city council, consisting of the CDU, SPD, Greens, and FDP, plans to cancel the planning process for this youth training centre on November 5th. This will be the 17th item on the agenda for the day, and the meeting is scheduled for 5:00 PM in the City Hall assembly room. If the city council vetoes the project, it will be a significant setback for Leverkusen. Rolfes also emphasized the importance of understanding: “Leverkusen wants to create a home for approximately 250 male and female athletes. Not just for the professionals, but especially for the youth team players, both boys and girls.”
