[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, a 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly abusing Manchester United star Mason Mount during last weekend’s Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur match. According to a police statement, a fan was forcibly removed from the stadium for allegedly directing malicious abuse at Mount. It was reported that a staff member heard the man making offensive remarks and subsequently reported it to the police. The 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of intent to cause harassment, alarm, or distress. He was later released on bail pending further investigation. The specific victim’s identity had not been confirmed during the initial investigation, but it was later confirmed to be Manchester United player Mason Mount. Notably, earlier last season, during a match between Manchester United and Tottenham at Old Trafford, Tottenham fans also directed homophobic chants at Mason Mount. Tottenham Hotspur was later fined £75,000 by the FA for their fans’ offense – the initial £150,000 fine was halved as the club admitted to the breach.
