It was reported that Liu Yuchen and Huang Yaqiong had previously held a wedding in Beijing, where the groom’s family is located. This time, they celebrated the “Homecoming Banquet” in the bride’s hometown of Quzhou, experiencing a Song Dynasty-style wedding.
According to records, the Homecoming Banquet is a traditional marriage custom of the Han ethnic group in China, also known as “returning home,” which refers to the ceremony where newlyweds return to the bride’s family with gifts three to ten days after marriage or on the full moon. This event is considered the final ritual of traditional wedding customs.
Last year’s Paris Olympics saw Huang Yaqiong and her partner Zheng Siwei win the gold medal in mixed doubles.
