[Saba Sports News] The NBA has not set a specific return date for Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green following his recent suspension. NBA executive Joe Dumars, head of basketball operations, provided insights on Monday about the reasoning behind Green’s indefinite suspension.
Green was suspended following an incident on December 12, where he was ejected for hitting Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face. This suspension marks Green’s second of the season, the first being for a more violent altercation in November.
Dumars highlighted that the NBA is adopting a “more holistic and rehabilitative perspective” in handling Green’s case. Instead of focusing on a fixed number of games, Dumars, as quoted by Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic, emphasized the importance of Green taking time off to address his issues, without the pressure of a specific timeline. The NBA is avoiding setting a minimum threshold for his suspension, allowing Green to focus on rehabilitation and improvement.
The decision on Green’s return will be collaborative, involving the league, the Warriors, and Green himself, ensuring he is ready to return, regardless of the time required. Reports indicate that Green has already started his rehabilitation process.
