[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, the Swedish national team has not ruled out calling up Alexander Isak to participate in the World Cup qualifying playoffs. Before last Christmas, Isak injured his ankle in a match against Tottenham and has been in recovery since then. Currently, Isak is actively rehabilitating but may not return until after the international match day in March. However, Sweden’s head coach Graham Potter has expressed hope that Isak can recover in time to participate in the World Cup qualifying playoff semi-final against Ukraine. In an interview with Swedish media, Potter stated, “For now, we can only pray and hope that a few players can return. But if not, we must find solutions with the players we have.”
The editor believes that if Isak is called up to the Swedish national team without having returned to Liverpool first, it could spark controversy between the club and the national team. Since transferring from Newcastle to Liverpool for a record £125 million last summer, Isak has struggled to perform at Anfield, scoring only 3 goals in 16 appearances due to injury issues.
