[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media, a FIFA delegation will conduct detailed inspections of the 2030 World Cup candidate venues in Spain and Portugal, with Barcelona’s Camp Nou as one of the key sites. The delegation will visit Barcelona on March 9 to assess the progress of the stadium’s renovation. The venue is expected to become the largest stadium in Europe and an ideal site for the final of the centenary World Cup. The inspection tour will start next week and cover Zaragoza, Madrid, and other Spanish cities including Las Palmas, Seville, La Coruña, Bilbao, and San Sebastián. FIFA aims to analyze infrastructure, renovation progress, logistics, legal and tax issues, with the goal of confirming the host cities officially in December 2026.
The editor believes that for Camp Nou, this inspection comes at a crucial stage of the Espai Barça project. According to the club’s latest updates and statements, significant progress has been made on the stadium. The current goal is to accommodate 62,000 spectators after obtaining the Phase 1C license from the Barcelona City Council, with a final capacity of 105,000. In addition, Camp Nou has become a strong candidate to host the final due to its expanded capacity and historical significance.
