[Saba Sports News] According to French media reports, the documentary about Paris Saint-Germain produced in collaboration with Netflix has been repeatedly delayed and remains unfinished to this day. In early June 2025, just a few days after Paris Saint-Germain beat Inter Milan 5-0 in the UEFA Champions League final, club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi confirmed that all footage was ready. He proudly announced to Qatar’s Al Kass Channel: “After the FIFA Club World Cup, there will be a documentary series about Paris Saint-Germain. It will take viewers behind the scenes of the campaign and will be released on Netflix.” Yet nine months later, the project is still in the works. After many previous unsuccessful negotiations, Paris Saint-Germain and Netflix had reached an agreement on the number of episodes and a planned release date through the production company following Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s statement last year. Nevertheless, as has been revealed, the project was put on hold at the beginning of 2026.
The editor believes that the reality may be more complicated than Nasser Al-Khelaifi has claimed. The participating parties have not received willing cooperation from all levels within the club, and they worry the project will end up being nothing more than a bland, polished PR promotional piece with no edge or depth at all. In addition, many players have turned down approaches from Netflix, refusing to be nothing more than background extras in the documentary.
