[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media, Alberto Ibáñez, housing spokesman and deputy for Sumar in the Congress of Deputies, has accused Ferran Torres of property speculation. Alberto Ibáñez alleges that Ferran Torres has engaged in real estate speculation in the Valencian Community via an investment fund. During a press conference, he drew a sharp contrast between Spain’s sporting glories and the severe housing crisis afflicting the country at present. The lawmaker compared economic data from 2010, when Spain won the World Cup, with figures from 2026. He pointed out that although the minimum wage has increased from €633 to €1,184, housing expenses have risen disproportionately. Figures he presented show that the average rent for a full apartment in Valencia stood at €500 in 2010. Today, that sum is insufficient to rent a single bedroom in a shared accommodation, where the average rent for one room has reached €550. Against this backdrop, Ibáñez singled out Eleven Future Invest, a company owned by Ferran Torres. He slammed the firm as a “vulture fund” and cited reports from Forbes, stating that the company has stockpiled 20 properties across Valencia.
As things stand, the sole objective of the company appears to be property speculation, which severely hinders ordinary people’s ability to secure stable housing. Alberto Ibáñez argues that the current situation is unsustainable and calls on authorities to adopt “decisive measures”. In particular, he highlighted the need to push forward a bill proposed by Sumar. The legislation seeks to ban investment funds and businesses like the one owned by Ferran from purchasing housing for speculative purposes, shielding the residential market from such financial practices.
