[Saba Sports News] Fiorentina’s cameo role in the new Serie A season does not mean it lacks a leading role in the turnaround. David De Gea, who joined on a free transfer in the summer, was the key to victory against AC Milan.

De Gea made seven saves in the game, five of them on shots in the box. Most notably, he twice saved penalties and set up the winner with a long ball. It is worth mentioning that De Gea has become the first goalkeeper to finish multiple saves in a single game in the past nine seasons in Serie A.
AC Milan coach Paolo Fonseca was unhappy with his team’s performance on penalty kicks, arguing that the players did not follow the established order of taking penalties. De Gea, however, was named man of the match, a well-deserved honour. Although he made only four of his 20 long crosses, it did not detract from his starring role. Fiorentina coach Palladino even described De Gea’s performance as a “phenomenon player”.
Back in the spotlight, De Gea seems to be really starting to experience life on the Apennine Peninsula, and his social media platform also revealed his love for Florence: “started in Spain, grew up in Manchester, love in Italy.”
