[Saba Sports News] Bihar’s young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history by becoming the fourth-youngest to debut in the Ranji Trophy at just 12 years and 284 days old. He played for Bihar in their match against Mumbai at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Patna, quickly becoming a social media sensation due to his young age competing in India’s premier red-ball tournament.
Vaibhav has been a standout player for India B U19, scoring half-centuries against Bangladesh U19 and England U19 in 2023. His impressive performance in the Coochbehar Trophy, where he scored 151 runs off 128 balls against Jharkhand, led Bihar selectors to include him in the Ranji season.
His father expressed pride in Vaibhav playing against prominent Indian cricketers like Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, and Dhawal Kulkarni, noting his son’s preference for aggressive cricket and confidence in his ongoing season performance.
On Day 1 of the current match, Mumbai scored 235/9, thanks to half-centuries from Bhupen Lalwani and Suved Parker and a vital 91-run partnership. Tanush Kotian also contributed significantly, scoring 50 runs off 69 deliveries. Veer Pratap Singh led the bowling for Bihar, taking four wickets, while Sakibul Gani and Himanshu Singh each took two. Bihar aims to dismiss Mumbai’s final wicket early on January 6 and then apply batting pressure.
