[Saba Sports News] In September of this year, following the murder of Antonio Bello, a key member of Inter’s “Curva Nord group” fan organization, Inter’s ultra fan Andrea Beretta was arrested. Some of the accused crimes include ticket and drink sales extortion, as well as other organized crimes and Mafia-related activities in and around San Siro. As reported by Italian media on Monday local time, 16 individuals have been sentenced to prison, with another 3 under house arrest. The report states that both AC Milan and Inter could face hefty fines and, in the worst-case scenario, could be disqualified from Serie A depending on the findings of an investigation by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) into the arrests of several extreme fans related to both clubs. FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chine has reportedly requested that the Milan Federal Prosecutor’s Office review some documents leading to these extremists’ arrests. FIGC aims to investigate whether AC Milan or Inter had any potential involvement. If AC Milan or Inter is found to have engaged in any dealings or agreements with unauthorized groups, they could face fines of €20,000 and in extreme cases, possible league disqualification which might also appear in the form of a suspended sentence.
