FIFA is expected to soon allow domestic leagues to hold at least one game overseas per season, with Ligue 1 potentially benefiting from this, especially in the United States. Relevent Sports, the promotion company that organizes the International Champions Cup every summer, has recently requested FIFA’s authorization to organize matches featuring European domestic leagues on American soil. It has been no secret that La Liga has been hoping to arrange important matches overseas, and negotiations with FIFA regarding this proposal have been taking place. Sources close to FIFA have now indicated that they should soon approve a proposal to host European league games overseas. If everything goes as planned, La Liga will be quick to follow, along with Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1. However, the Premier League seems to be more hesitant.
