[Saba Sports News] Anthony Edwards wasn’t interested in excuses from Charles Barkley after the Minnesota Timberwolves advanced to the Western Conference Finals with a 98-90 victory over the Denver Nuggets in Game 7. The game took place at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.
During the postgame interview on TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” Edwards had a memorable exchange with Barkley that quickly spread across social media. When Barkley mentioned he hadn’t visited Minnesota in about 20 years, Edwards promptly invited him, saying, “Bring your ass.”
This victory marked exactly 20 years since the Timberwolves last advanced past the second round, a feat achieved by the 2003-04 team led by Kevin Garnett, Sam Cassell, and Latrell Sprewell, who also clinched their series in a Game 7 on May 19, 2004. With TNT scheduled to cover this year’s Western Conference Finals, it ensures that Barkley and the “Inside the NBA” crew will be heading to Minneapolis for the first time in two decades.
Although Edwards didn’t deliver his best game statistically in Game 7, with only 16 points on 6/24 shooting, he made crucial plays including a pivotal three-pointer with just over three minutes remaining to extend the lead by 10 points. His overall contribution included 8 rebounds and 7 assists.
