[Saba Sports News] As fans lock in their record predictions for the upcoming Denver Nuggets season, the question remains: did the team improve, regress, or stay the same?
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas shared his thoughts on the matter during his podcast, and his comments might raise concerns among Nuggets fans.
When asked if the Nuggets are doing enough to support Nikola Jokic and extend their championship window, Arenas gave a blunt response. He said that if he were head coach Michael Malone, he would be “a little concerned.”
“As champs two years ago, we didn’t improve last year, and now we’ve lost some key pieces,” Arenas explained. “We brought in some new players, but I don’t think they’re valuable enough. For instance, we added Westbrook, but who’s he passing to? Where are the shooters? A team like this needs shooters. Jokic can’t be Jokic with defenders crowding the lane.”
Arenas highlighted the Nuggets’ biggest offseason move, signing veteran point guard Russell Westbrook to a two-year, $6.8 million deal.
Despite Westbrook’s storied career, the acquisition has raised questions about whether he fits the team’s needs.
