[Saba Sports News] The Denmark Badminton Open is currently in full swing. As the host country’s representative, Danish men’s singles star Viktor Axelsen is participating, but he expressed strong dissatisfaction after his match, citing the court mat as very slippery. He and other players had slipped, making it clearly unsafe. Axelsen said, “I find it very surprising that there is no form of quality control regarding the court and related matters. Fortunately, the issue was resolved, and no one was seriously injured, but this is perhaps an area that the relevant parties should consider improving.” The editor believes that, from an athlete’s perspective, a slippery court indeed increases the risk of injury and affects their performance. For a sport like badminton, which requires rapid movement, sudden stops, and quick turns, court friction directly impacts players’ footwork stability and movement accuracy. If the court is slippery, players may hesitate to accelerate fully or attempt high-difficulty moves, undoubtedly diminishing the excitement of the match and the level of competition. As a top athlete, Axelsen has higher demands for court conditions, and his criticism represents the voices of many players who hope to compete in a safe and suitable environment.
