[Saba Sports News] With the 2025 Li-Ning China Masters approaching, eager fans are looking forward to the potential return of badminton legend – two-time Olympic men’s singles champion and Grand Slam winner Viktor Axelsen – to Shenzhen. The Danish star arrived in Hong Kong two days ago to participate in an official Badminton World Federation (BWF) event. Whether his subsequent schedule will include a comeback at the China Masters in Shenzhen has become a focal point of attention. As a “Grand Slam” winner who has claimed titles at the Olympics, World Championships, Thomas Cup, All England Open, and BWF World Tour Finals, Axelsen’s every appearance draws the attention of the global badminton world. He has been absent from the court for an extended period since undergoing back surgery in March of this year, even regrettably missing the World Championships. After months of recuperation, Axelsen previously indicated he would most likely choose either the Hong Kong Open or the China Masters as the stage for his comeback debut. The 2025 China Masters will be held from September 16th to 21st at the Shenzhen Sports Center Gymnasium. As the event with the highest total prize money among the BWF’s six annual “Super 750” tournaments, offering a purse of up to $1.25 million, it attracts numerous top global players, making it a true badminton all-star extravaganza. Axelsen’s name is on the entry list.
