from British media, there was controversy after the match between Brentford and
Arsenal in the Premier League. Following their 1-2 defeat to Arsenal, Brentford
players allegedly surrounded the referee in the tunnel and criticized Kai
Havertz for what they deemed to be a disgraceful dive. The incident in question
occurred in the 66th minute of the game when Havertz was accused of diving to
try and win a penalty. Despite the potential for a second yellow card, the
referee, Rob Jones, did not award a penalty. Havertz later played a significant
role in securing Arsenal’s victory. After the match, it is said that Brentford
players confronted the referee near the locker room, expressing their strong
dissatisfaction with Havertz not being sent off. Brentford defender Nathan
Collins was heard shouting remarks such as “shame on him” and
“cheating,” while Rob Jones engaged in a conversation with the
frustrated Brentford players. However, the incident was not included in the
referee’s report, which means that the Football Association (FA) will not take
any action.
