After staging a 2-1 comeback victory over archrival Japan in the semi-finals, China faced Hong Kong, China in the title decider. Boasting superior overall strength, China beat their opponents 2-0 in a lopsided win to claim the championship, securing three consecutive titles in the mixed team event of the Asian Junior Championships. Hosted in Yatsushiro, Japan, the team competition of this year’s championships kicked off on June 26 and lasted five days, with a total of 15 teams taking part. Adopting the same format as the previous edition, the tournament featured a relay chase system with matches decided by the best-of-three format. Each set targets 55 points, split evenly into five individual disciplines worth 11 points each. The score at the end of one discipline carries over as the starting score for the next. The final saw China take on Hong Kong, China, who had reached the mixed team final of the Asian Junior Championships for the first time. Holding an edge across all five individual events, China built an early lead starting from the men’s doubles in both sets and kept widening the margin in subsequent matches. With set scores of 55-39 and 55-37, China sealed a 2-0 rout over Hong Kong, China to clinch victory and their third straight mixed team crown at the Asian Junior Championships.
