Sports News] According to British media reports, David Datro Fofana’s parent
club, Abidjan City, is demanding 20% of the player’s transfer fee as
compensation. Fofana, who currently plays as a forward for Chelsea, was signed
by Molde on a free transfer in 2021. However, Abidjan City claims that they had
a professional contract with Fofana and that his transfer to Molde was illegal.
Abidjan City appealed against Fofana and Molde at the Court of Arbitration for
Sport but lost the case. They are planning to further appeal to a higher court.
They argue that the professional contract they had with Fofana should be
recognized and that they are entitled to compensation. According to documents
from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, a deal for Fofana was agreed between
Abidjan City and the French club Angers, which constitutes a claim of €1.065
million. Additionally, the final value of Fofana’s transfer to Chelsea is
reported to be around £13 million, of which Abidjan City hopes to receive 20%.
