As early as July this year, Dutch media reported tensions in de Ligt’s relationship with his wife, even suggesting the marriage had broken down because de Ligt could no longer tolerate his wife’s extreme “spiritual content.” De Ligt and AnneKee held their wedding in June last year, after which AnneKee moved with de Ligt to Manchester. The couple had been dating since de Ligt was a teenager playing for Ajax. Even before de Ligt proposed in 2023, AnneKee had posted related content on her social media. Now, her Instagram profile has even changed from her previous model bio and is filled with content about pseudoscientific interests like energy, crystals, and fortune-telling. Her interest seems to have deepened recently, particularly after she launched her “Annie’s Alchemia” series. AnneKee has not mentioned her husband in her social media posts for two months. The couple originally planned to hold a large party in Italy this summer to celebrate their anniversary, but it was later cancelled.
