[Saba Sports News] Dominique Wilkins recently appeared on the ‘All The Smoke’ podcast and addressed concerns about Hawks’ top pick Zaccharie Risacher after his underwhelming NBA Summer League performance. Wilkins emphasized that Risacher is still young and has plenty of time to grow into a solid player.
“He’s young, man. What is this kid, 19? He’s skilled. You just gotta give him time. He’s gonna be just fine. Believe me,” said Wilkins, a Hawks legend who knows the pressure that comes with being a high draft pick.
Though Risacher struggled in the Summer League, Wilkins urged patience, pointing out the weight of expectations on the young player. The Hawks, who reportedly drafted Risacher after Alex Sarr declined to work out with the team, are now focused on developing him alongside Trae Young. With Dejounte Murray gone, the team needs Risacher to step up, and Young will play a key role in helping him find his rhythm early in the season.
