[Saba Sports News] Donte DiVincenzo, rumored to be unhappy with the New York Knicks before being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, recently disputed those claims.
Before a preseason game, DiVincenzo stated that reports about him being upset over potentially losing a starting spot to Mikal Bridges were entirely false. He explained that he hadn’t focused on his role yet, as nothing had been decided.
“I don’t know how that gained traction, but it’s completely untrue,” he told Stefan Bondy of the New York Post. DiVincenzo added that he understood lineup rotations and was excited about Bridges joining the team, dismissing the notion that he was unhappy about his minutes or role.
Last season, DiVincenzo started 63 games for the Knicks, averaging a career-high 15.5 points and shooting 40% from three-point range.
The expectation was he’d take on a bench role after the Bridges trade, and reports suggested he wasn’t pleased. However, DiVincenzo is now focused on his new chapter with the Timberwolves.
