[Saba Sports News] Draymond Green isn’t worried about the Warriors’ aging core heading into the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
Following a 124-119 overtime loss to the Clippers on Sunday, Golden State missed out on a top-six seed and now heads to the Play-In Tournament. Despite the setback, Green remained upbeat, brushing aside concerns about fatigue and even joking about the team’s age.
“We’ll be fine,” Green said. “In the playoffs, there are no back-to-backs, so we just need to get there. We’re not senior citizens — we’re high-level basketball players. We’ve been training all year for this. No disrespect to senior citizens, by the way. We love our senior citizens.”
While the loss was a blow, Green and the Warriors are focused on bouncing back to secure a postseason berth. Green wrapped up a strong regular season, averaging 8.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and a block per game over 68 appearances. He shot 42.2% from the field and 31.7% from deep, making a case as a Defensive Player of the Year contender.
Golden State finished the season 48-34, placing seventh in the West with an offensive average of 113.7 points on 45% shooting, including 36.3% from three. They outscored opponents by 3.4 points per game.
The Warriors now gear up to host the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday in the Play-In. A win secures the seventh seed; a loss would force them into an elimination game against the Kings or Mavericks for the final playoff spot. The matchup also gives Golden State a chance at redemption after Memphis ended their playoff hopes in the 2020-21 Play-In.
