[Saba Sports News] Draymond Green is showing a surprising level of perspective following the Golden State Warriors’ playoff elimination.
The Warriors were knocked out of the postseason on Wednesday night with a 121-110 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of their second-round series.
After winning Game 1, Golden State lost four straight — a slide that coincided with Steph Curry suffering a hamstring injury and missing the remainder of the series.
Despite the obvious impact of Curry’s absence, Green refrained from making excuses. Speaking with reporters after the game, he took a measured approach.
“You can’t say we would’ve won if Steph hadn’t got hurt,” Green said, via 95.7 The Game. “We’ve been on the other side of that. So respect it when it doesn’t go your way.
“Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side this time and Steph got hurt. But take the good with the bad. The Timberwolves beat us, regardless of who was on the floor.”
Green’s honesty stood out, particularly given his usual combative postgame demeanor. His comments acknowledged the role injury luck has played in Golden State’s own championship runs — including opposing stars like Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, Chris Paul, and Ja Morant missing key games during the Warriors’ four title runs.
In a rare moment of introspection, Green admitted that while Curry’s injury hurt, the Warriors have benefited from similar situations in the past — and shouldn’t lean on excuses now that the tables have turned.
