[Saba Sports News] Former F1 driver Tom Coronel recently discussed the current state of F1 in a media interview, expressing surprise at McLaren driver Lando Norris’s stunning performance this season, suggesting he might break Max Verstappen’s dominance and become the new champion. Coronel stated, “The situation for Red Bull is currently very bad; I believe Norris has an 80% chance of winning the championship, while Verstappen only has 20%. The points gap between them may seem significant now, but don’t forget there are still many points available to fight for.” It is believed that given the current situation, Norris faces enormous challenges. Although he won the Singapore Grand Prix with a dominant performance, narrowing the points gap with Verstappen to 52 points, achieving an overturn is not easy. On one hand, Verstappen has shown strong dominance this season, winning multiple races and maintaining a lead in the driver standings. The strength of the Red Bull team cannot be underestimated as they provide strong support for Verstappen. On the other hand, Norris needs to maintain consistent performance in the remaining races and aim for victory in every race while hoping for mistakes from Verstappen.
