[Saba Sports News] FIFA recently introduced a new regulation, announcing intensified efforts to combat online abuse. Fans verified to have engaged in serious hateful or discriminatory behavior, such as abusing players, will be blacklisted and prohibited from purchasing tickets for any future FIFA matches or events. The core of sports is endeavor and inclusivity, while extreme fan behavior like hate speech and abusive actions continuously erodes the purity of sports. The author believes that whether it’s fans throwing objects at the venue, verbally abusing players or referees, or maliciously cyberbullying athletes online, these actions not only disrupt the normal progress of matches but can also escalate tensions and trigger group conflicts. The blacklist system, serving as a supplement to legal penalties, addresses the issue of insufficient long-term restraint after legal punishment, acts as a strong deterrent to potential violators, reduces such incidents, safeguards the physical and mental well-being of spectators, athletes, and other personnel, and effectively curbs the trend of on-site harassment.
